  • Luminant Employees Raise Nearly $650,000 for Area Residents
11.30.2012 Written by

DALLAS – Luminant employees are jumpstarting their holiday giving – contributing nearly $650,000 to support their neighbors in need through United Way and TXU Energy AidSM.

“Our employees’ overwhelming generosity echoes the company’s longstanding legacy of sustaining philanthropic efforts,” said Claudia Morrow, 2012 EFH campaign chair. “We’re extremely proud of their support, which provides measurable and impactful programs and services for the communities in which we live and work.”

Throughout the fall, Luminant employees hosted numerous fundraising activities across the company’s power plant and mine fleet, including its Dallas headquarters. In addition to their contributions, Luminant employees invested their time – giving back to their communities with more than 500 hours of volunteer service.

“Year after year, Luminant employees take their giving to the next level to help us achieve our goals,” said Jennifer Sampson, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas president and CEO. “We’re grateful for Luminant’s dedication to helping us build world-class programs that create a brighter future for all.”

Funds raised will benefit United Way’s programs to improve health, education and income for those in need; they will also help local residents receive bill-payment assistance for their electric service during the winter months through TXU Energy AidSM.
