Dallas –

First class of 35 will receive a full scholarship to gain skills for a lifetime

Due to strong interest and well-qualified candidates, Luminant Power Track, Luminant’s career development scholarship program, is increasing the size of its inaugural scholarship class from 30 and is now awarding 35 scholarships toward an associate degree in power plant technology.

As part of this program – the first of its kind in the state – each student will receive a scholarship covering books and tuition toward a two-year degree in power plant technology at Tyler Junior College; a paid summer internship at a Luminant power plant; and the opportunity to forge a relationship with Luminant that could grow into a full-time job following successful completion of the program.

“We’re excited that so many students showed interest in building a career in the energy industry, and we’re looking forward to giving them the opportunity to gain skills for a lifetime,” said Mike Williams, Luminant’s chief fossil officer. “It was extremely difficult narrowing down the applicant pool from nearly 70 students, but we are confident that we’ve found the best of the best.”
