2011-2012 Luminant Scholar Program
About the Luminant Scholar Program
The Luminant Scholar Program brings environmental awareness into the classroom, helping fifth-grade students across Texas gain an appreciation for preserving the air, water and land we all use.
To help shine a light on environmental protection, Luminant sponsors an essay contest for fifth-graders. One student at each participating school district will win a $1,000 United States Savings Bond, and three schools representing the top essays will receive a $5,000 Luminant grant.
In 2010, nearly 8,000 students participated with $50,000 awarded in scholarships and grants.
