Luminant Provides Update on IGCC Initiative: 14 Companies Respond to Request for Proposals
DALLAS, TX -

Luminant, the power generation subsidiary of Energy Future Holdings (EFH), today announced that it has received 14 expressions of interest in response to its request for proposals (RFP) from companies offering Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) or other coal gasification technologies with the ability to capture carbon dioxide emissions.

“We are very pleased to have received interest from virtually all the major suppliers of this type of equipment,” said Mike Greene, Luminant's Chief Executive Officer. “Due to the interest we have received so far, we are also extending the period for clarifying questions from January 30, 2008 to the end of February. We want to ensure that there is enough time to respond to all the questions received before the detailed proposals are due.”

Luminant's timeline calls for detailed proposals to be submitted by June 2008. The company's IGCC RFP is the first step in the planning process for two commercial demonstration plants to be located in Texas, fulfilling a commitment made by the company.

Subsequent to the submission of proposals, Luminant will undertake a detailed evaluation of the proposals before proceeding to phase two, which will include preliminary engineering designs. Luminant also looks forward to seeking input from the Energy Future Holdings Sustainable Energy Advisory Board upon its formation.

The company has established a new Internet page with updates on the IGCC process. The page is www.luminant.com/igcc.
